【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedforthedeterminationoftheradiantheatresistancevalueofamaterial,acombinationofmaterials,oracomparisonofdifferentmaterialsusedinflameresistantclothingforworkersexposedtoradiantthermalhazards.Thistestmethodevaluatesamaterial''sheattransferpropertieswhenexposedtoacontinuousandconstantradiantheatsource.Airmovementatthefaceofthespecimenandaroundthecalorimetercanaffectthemeasuredheattransferredduetoforcedconvectiveheatlosses.Minimizingtheairmovementaroundthespecimenandtestapparatuswillaidintherepeatabilityoftheresults.Thistestmethodmaintainsthespecimeninastatic,verticalpositionanddoesnotinvolvemovement,exceptthatresultingfromtheexposure.Thistestmethodspecifiestwostandardsetsofexposureconditions:21kW/m2[0.5cal/cm2s]and84kW/m2[2.0cal/cm2s].Eithercanbeused.5.4.1Ifadifferentsetofexposureconditionsisused,itislikelythatdifferentresultswillbeobtained.5.4.2Theoptionaluseofotherconditionsrepresentativeoftheexpectedhazard,inadditiontothestandardsetofexposureconditions,ispermitted.However,theexposureconditionsusedmustbereportedwiththeresultsalongwithadeterminationoftheexposureenergylevelstability.Thistestmethoddoesnotpredictskinburninjuryfromthestandardizedradiantheatexposure.Note48212;SeeAppendixX4foradditionalinformationregardingthistestmethodandpredictedskinburninjury.1.1Thistestmethodratesthenon-steadystatethermalresistanceorinsulatingcharacteristicsofflameresistantclothingmaterialssubjectedtoacontinuous,standardizedradiantheatexposure.1.1.1Thistestmethodisnotapplicabletoclothingmaterialsthatarenotflameresistant.Note18212;Thedeterminationofaclothingmaterial''sflameresistanceshallbemadepriortotestinganddoneinaccordancewiththeapplicableperformancestandard,specificationstandard,orboth,fortheclothingmaterial''send-use.1.1.2Thistestmethoddoesnotpredictskinburninjuryfromthestandardizedradiantheatexposureasitdoesnotaccountforthethermalenergycontainedinthetestspecimenaftertheexposurehasceased.Note28212;SeeAppendixX4foradditionalinformationregardingthistestmethodandpredictedskinburninjury.1.2Thistestmethodisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninbracketsaremathematicalconversionstoinch-poundorotherunitsthatarecommonlyusedforthermaltesting.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
